A biography is a written account of a person’s life. If a person writes about his own life, then it it’s called an autobiography. Writing the biography of another person involves research, whether you know the person you are writing about or not. To do justice to the person you are writing about, make sure you have researched every aspect of his or her life.

Read as much as you can about the person. Get your hands on every book, magazine, and article on the internet about that person. It would be great if you can get an interview so you could have firsthand information. The person should agree on the biography you are writing. It’s best if your biography is authorized; unless of course, you are trying to expose a not-so-nice facet of that person’s life and he wouldn't agree anyway. In this case, you are writing an unauthorized biography, which could also attract many readers because of its revealing nature. Otherwise, an acknowledgement from your person in subject and an interview with him would be a great help. (Click PLAY to listen to the entire article)
