For an assignment, I have to write a book proposal for a non-fiction book. Any ideas? I do not want to do a biography or a self-help book. I'm mostly just looking for 'topics' - something people would be interested in reading.

Just finished writing a non-fiction book... and many people I know really want to read it, I have utmost faith that it will be a best seller. I have already paid hundreds to an editor and will be receiving the final PDF copy in a few weeks I send and receive emails daily with him. I have already in hand a loan for the printing process and IBSN registration and what not.
Should I just pay 1000$ to some literary agent and ask him to write a book proposal?

What does it mean to write a proposal for a book review? MY teacher did not explain to the class what its about..but i emailed her and this is what i got.
You will need to turn in a proposal for your book review. The book you choose may be fiction or non-fiction. The only qualification is that it is a book you actually want to read. The proposal should include the title and author of the book and a brief explaination as to why you want to read it.
Can someone give me an example?

Do I need to write my proposal, synopsis or outline for Publishers and Agents in 3rd person? Hello,
I have written a Non fiction book which is a personal biography of my particular experiences on a subject. I have written it from my point of view but do I need to write the proposal/synopsis/outline for publishers and agents in the 3rd person - so as an outsider?
Many thanks in advance :)

How Long Should It Take To Write A Book Proposal? An agent saw some of my work and liked it,asked me to write
a book proposal. It's non-fiction,a subject I know well and I have
no idea how long it's going to take to do this. Anyone?
I know that everyone is different, different styles of working at
their writing, etc. But a ball park would be helpful.
Thank you!

How do I do market research for a nonfiction book proposal? I've been thinking about writing a non-fiction book, but I know that saying "I'm writing it for the greater good of humanity and everyone should read it" isn't going to get it published. ;) Before I start committing to actual writing (which will probably take a couple years), I want to have a plan for eventually getting it published. I'm not doing any proposal writing right now or anytime soon, but I want to be ready down the road. Plus, it would help to have a clear idea in my head what my actual audience is when I do start writing.
I've got some vague ideas about audience and what would be "competing books," and general confidence that my book fills a unique slot in the market, and reasons why people would actually want to read it. But when it comes to getting any actual data to back up or clarify any of that, I'm at a loss. I've joined writersmarket.com, and it has lots of resources and suggests really knowing your market when you contact agents/publishers, but doesn't exactly give a how-to on doing market research. Aside from informally surveying friends of friends, what do I do? Anyone have recommendations?
I figure I need to put myself out there sometime. :) But I specifically need help on how to do research on the market my book would be for. I've got a grasp on how to do the other stuff.

Is it ok to contact multiple agents with your book draft? I just finished writing a non-fiction book on spirituality. I found some publishing agents online who work on marketing this genere of books. When I write a proposal to them, should I write to multiple agents at the same time, or should I just contact one agent at a time and wait to contact the next only if I don't hear from them?
What is the proper etiquette in this regard?
Thanks for all answers in advance!

Where is a good place to find advice on writing a book proposal? I've looked at several web sites and found several different ways to go about the job. Each site of course said theirs was the best way. My work is non-fiction, and looks at the inner workings of your average hospital from a male nurse perspective. It's funny, sad, interesting etc etc.

Writing a literary fiction query letter? I'm trying to find good books and websites that deal with writing fiction query letters. So far, on Amazon, the only books I could find that dealt specifically with query letters, were books for non-fiction proposals. If you know of any good books or websites that deal with fiction query letters, please let me know. Thanks.
