Self publishing?
I'm writing a novel and was planning on self-publishing. My question is "why is there such a price difference with some printers?" For instance, one printer wants to charge me 13.53 for each book i have printed, another printer only wants 3.81 for the same job. I've actually shopped around quite a bit and it looks like 80% or more of printers want a 13 to 15 dollar price. Is there something I am missing or are the expensive ones just out to rip people off and take advantage of new authors?

Self Publishing?
I've written 12-15 short stories. One has been published in a small magazine and another has won honorable mention in a contest sponsored by Writer's Digest magazine. I would like to see my stories collected in book form, not necessarily to sell the book, but mainly to have my stories in a professional-looking book. What would be the best (in terms of cost and professional appearance) self-publishing place to bring my stories to in order to get them in book form? Thanks.

self-publishing?
Has anyone ever self-published a book rather than going through a company who accepted it for publishing? If yes can you tell me what the advantages and disadvantages of going this route may be? Thank you in advance. Cherie

Self-Publishing???
Is self-publishing worth it? I am a young writer who really wants to get published. I write fiction/fantasy. All the information I've found about publishing is like a horror story about how hard it is. I recently went to a self-publishing site. It seems like a good idea, but it's so expensive! Does anyone know whether it's worth it?

What is the cheapest and best self publishing company?
I have decided on self publishing as I am impatient with literary agents :). Does anyone know a good company with a great, inexpensive package? I'd like to be able to customize my cover, and I need a professional editor. I've looked at LuLu, does anyone have any feedback from them? Thanks.

Does self-publishing a book hurt your chances of getting published by a company?
I'm participating in National Novel Writing Month, and if I win, I can get my book published by CreateSpace for free. It would be self-published, not by a real publishing company. Does anyone know if self-publishing this book would hurt my chances of getting an agent and getting my book published?

What would you say is the best self-published publishing company?
I self-published a book that came out in October. It has done extremely well but now I am having difficulties getting the company to pay me the royalties that I have coming. Do you know of any other self-publishing companies that actually do what they say they are going to do? If you know of one please tell me about them and why you chose to deal with them. Thanks so much!
