I want to write a novel Any point writing a book proposal if

I'm writing a novel for the first time. I read that some authors write book proposals to editors (including the plot, characters, why they should consider your book, etc.) before they have even written it? Is it only established authors that are able to do this? If you have no experience in the business, is it better to write the whole novel and then send it off? Thanks

I asked a question the other day about a book idea now I want to write a book proposal

I am just wondering if there is a great website that anyone would recommend for writing book proposals. I've found many, but they're all very different. Thanks in advance. The link (and a little more info about my proposed book) is here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArWjW.YyYXeKP2uQPa_X9Ufsy6IX?qid=20070712202848AAIBYNV

For an assignment I have to write a book proposal for a nonfiction book Any ideas

I do not want to do a biography or a self-help book. I'm mostly just looking for 'topics' - something people would be interested in reading.

How do you write a book proposal

Do you follow a specific format and length? How long does it take for you to prepare it?

can you write a book proposal in dot points

please help or if so do you have a sample of a book proposal?

Are there people who professionally help write book proposals First time writer here

Yes I know if I'm the writer, I should, but I am wondering if there are people who do this for a living and who I could contact to discuss selling my idea and book to publishers and agents. I just want to get it right. I am writing a nonfiction.

Do you need a book proposal to query agents

I'm having trouble writing a book proposal. Do you need one to query and agent? I thought they were supposed to help you write that. Thanks!

How Long Should It Take To Write A Book Proposal

An agent saw some of my work and liked it,asked me to write a book proposal. It's non-fiction,a subject I know well and I have no idea how long it's going to take to do this. Anyone? I know that everyone is different, different styles of working at their writing, etc. But a ball park would be helpful. Thank you!

For my book proposal Why do you like to read books about interesting people

I'm writing a book proposal where I will be interviewing a series of interesting people in a certain discipline. These are people who both helped found and create the field, and who today are taking it in exciting directions. I'd love to hear some reasons as to why you might read, or be interested in reading books about people and hearing their words directly--thank you!

What does it mean to write a proposal for a book review

MY teacher did not explain to the class what its about..but i emailed her and this is what i got. You will need to turn in a proposal for your book review. The book you choose may be fiction or non-fiction. The only qualification is that it is a book you actually want to read. The proposal should include the title and author of the book and a brief explaination as to why you want to read it. Can someone give me an example?

Where is a good place to find advice on writing a book proposal

I've looked at several web sites and found several different ways to go about the job. Each site of course said theirs was the best way. My work is non-fiction, and looks at the inner workings of your average hospital from a male nurse perspective. It's funny, sad, interesting etc etc.

How to write a good book proposal for a novel

How do you hook a publisher on your book idea. Considering that you haven't started writing it, what are some things you should incorporate into your book proposal to get them interested? Should you (in addition to your outline of course), write a summary of major literary themes and philosophies you plan on weaving into your story? Or might that insult their intelligence? Should I let them read the lines in my story itself so they can analyze it themselves? Whats the best method... And if your an unpublished author, and don't have a degree or any other major accomplishments, whats the best way to convince them you have the insight and ability to write a good book? Thanks for your help...

Help writing a book proposal

What needs to be included in a book proposal? How long should each part be? How should it be written? Any help appreciated.

A book proposal before the actual book

I read on this website (posted below) that you should write a book proposal before you write the actual book. It seems to give good arguments, but I'm not completely sure if it would be better? What do you think? http://editingpublishing.suite101.com/article.cfm/should_you_write_a_book_proposal

Do you think its possible to learn proposal writing thru a book without taking classes

What about technical and grant writing?

When putting together a book proposal what is a CVand is that something I should try

I have asked questions on here dealing with writing a book before and have been helped a great deal. I have written my book, like many have advised. My book is a memoir about my personal weight loss. I have battled forty of my fifty-one years with weight problems. I have yo-yo dieted three other times before this most recent time and put all the weight back on and more. (Losing over 100 pounds all three times.) This time, at fifty-one years of age, I have lost 165 pounds. People have been telling me how remarkable that is and to write a book about it. So I did. The question is...what now? Do I submit a book proposal or should I just send my manuscript in to someone? I have never done anything like this before. I have no formal training in writing and never went to college at all. I have been told that I have a gift though, just no skills. I have allowed certain people to read it and they love it. Not just friends either. I have allowed English teachers at the school I work at proofread it for me. They love it and say I have excellent writing talent. I allowed an acquaintance who majored in journalism to read it and she loved it as well. She made some very positive criticism about it though, which I greatly appreciated. I really believe I can help people with this book so I know I would have an audience. I have heard that book proposals can be turned off like they were nothing and that concerns me because of my lack of experience and no name recognition. What should I do my friends? Thank you

Can you submit a book proposal without first writing the book Will an idea and sample chapter suffice

I have a book idea and I started writing it, but I really have no idea whether or not it will appeal to anyone. I have no sense of how interesting these aspects of my life may or may not be. I wish to keep this project a secret until it is truly underway and have no one to pre-read it (at least no one that I can trust to be brutally honest). Can I submit a sample chapter and book proposal to agents or should I have the final work complete first? I would hate to spend so much time writing a book that no one will ever want to read. Also, please note that I do not think my idea is a bad one or I would not press forward with it. I just have no concept of what will be interesting for others to read. Thanks!

How do I get my book proposal based on my blog http5kidswdisabilitieswordpresscom published

I have an amazing life raising 5 kiddos with disabilities and I've written a book about myself and the kids. It is heartwarming, humorous (REALLY!!) insightful, sad, and really really good! (I am usually modest, but I really have to recommend you check it out!) Thanks for any help you can give me. Lindsey
