I'm having trouble writing a book proposal. Do you need one to query and agent? I thought they were supposed to help you write that. Thanks!

I'm writing a book proposal where I will be interviewing a series of interesting people in a certain discipline. These are people who both helped found and create the field, and who today are taking it in exciting directions. I'd love to hear some reasons as to why you might read, or be interested in reading books about people and hearing their words directly--thank you!

For a novel. The book IS already written, and this is for an agent who requests both, not for a publisher. In fact, they don't. That's why I'm asking. I'll check that out -- thanks!

what should i include in the book club proposal? What are the criteria of chosing good books for the new bok club? what activities can the book club provide?

Write the query letter and send it, then wait for a reply and then actually start the whole writing process. I'm not interested in hearing whether this is right or wrong. I just want to know if it's doable. Thanks.

I assume they read it in due time and then respond eventually - but then what? Say they love it - what is the process to then actually get it published?

Recently (about four weeks ago), I've sent the first fifty pages of my manuscript out to a literary agent (as requested) and am wondering how long I should wait before contacting the agent to ask about it. I don't want to seem too pushy or to become a pest, but if she doesn't want it, I'd like to know so I can start sending the query letter back out to other agents. Please help!

Is it okay to put it in a manila envelope and mail it that way?

I do not want to do a biography or a self-help book. I'm mostly just looking for 'topics' - something people would be interested in reading.

Do you follow a specific format and length? How long does it take for you to prepare it?

I've looked at several web sites and found several different ways to go about the job. Each site of course said theirs was the best way. My work is non-fiction, and looks at the inner workings of your average hospital from a male nurse perspective. It's funny, sad, interesting etc etc.

MY teacher did not explain to the class what its about..but i emailed her and this is what i got. You will need to turn in a proposal for your book review. The book you choose may be fiction or non-fiction. The only qualification is that it is a book you actually want to read. The proposal should include the title and author of the book and a brief explaination as to why you want to read it. Can someone give me an example?

I have read some submission requirements for submitting manuscripts from publishers and they all say they wont accept unsolicited manuscripts. do i need to hire an agent? and how do i do that? i do. but i dont know whereabouts of finding one.
