What's the diff. between a query letter, cover letter, and synopsis?
Also, what all does it take to get published and how do you go about writing these things? (queries, synopsis..) Thanks!
Does anyone know of any examples they could show me for fiction novels? it would be really helpful.
i prescribed to writers market online and am honestly still confused. Is the book better ?

The query letter is usually sent before the writer sends the entire manuscript. It basically asks whether the publisher would be interested in a book of a certain type. The cover letter, on the other hand, is sent with the manuscript and perhaps draws the reader's or editor's attention to whatever the author thinks are the strongest or most relevant features of the book. A synopsis may accompany either. Answer 2
The Writer's Market is an excellent book to help you. Answer 3
A query letter attempts to 'sell' the book enough that a literary agent or a publisher asks to see it. Information which much be included is title, word count, genre, a one- to two-paragraph summary, the author's qualifications or other publications, awards, etc.
A cover letter accompanies the complete or partial manuscript an agent or publisher has requested. It's very short and just reminds them they asked to see this.
A synopsis is a present-tense summary of the novel, the major characters and what they do. It must include the ending. It's smart to write synopses of several lengths, from one page to ten or so, because agents and publishers often want different levels of detail.
There are instructions online and in reference books. << GO BACK to questions
