If you send a query letter with a book outline or synopsis, what protects your ideas?
|
Do you copyright the ideas in the synopsis?
It's on science concepts, non-fiction, based on years of compiling research, don't want to give it away.
I'm a Ph.D.

No, you don't copyright it yourself. No self-respecing publisher or literary agent is going to steal your work. I wouldn't flatter yourself either with that idea. It makes you appear a novice. You may be a novice, but you don't want others to know that. You want to appear like you know what you're talking about and that you know what you're doing. If you don't send your ideas to a scam, you'll be safe. Get the Writers' Market book. It has a reputable list of literary agents that are honest and sound. << GO BACK to questions
