Chances of being able to find a job as a book editor?

What are the chances of being able to find a job as a book editor? For example, there are thousands upon thousands of teaching jobs available, whereas jobs for becoming a model or an astranout or something like that are scarce. So, what are the chances of actually finding a job as an editor? I honestly don't wanna waste all my years in college trying to achieve this if it's second to impossible. Thank you!

Answer 1

Chase after your dreams. If its ment to be and it its what you love, The job will find you.. Email me if you want to talk tnkerbell0102010@yahoo.com

Answer 2

You'll be needing a college degree for that. In English, although you might be able to tweak a Journalism degree in that direction. It's not impossible, but it is hard work to become a top editor.

Answer 3

College is not a waste. Trust me no matter the degree you achieve it is still something and usually helps your future career in one way or another. For example, I majored in criminal justice with a minor in forensics and I've written and published the first two books in a paranormal/mystery/romance series. My knowledge from college has helped me a lot in writing out the story line. Book editors are not scarce, but they are not easy to come by - especially in this economy. A degree in English or Creative writing would not only apply to a career in book editing, but others jobs as well like english teachers and sometimes even journalists who have found their calling too late. It still helps. People without a college education in today's society have virtually no chance of getting any job they are considering because more than likely they are not qualified.
