Are there any particular requirements that you need to become a book editor?

I'm interested in editing, writing, and illustrating books. I know that I would need successful English grades in order to be employed well, but are there any particular requirements needed to become an editor?

I would have to say knowledge of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling are essential. I have read many books where I have to read the sentence a couple of times because it just doesn't make sense. Either there is an improper use of words or perhaps it is a puncutational error. In many cases, I have also found misspelled words. A book, I believe has to flow. It's like a hiccup in the story when you have to stop at a very interesting part and re-read what was just written. I find it to be somewhat of a killjoy. << GO BACK to questions
